Home Sweet Home

I thought this week I would give you a tour of my new home. As you can see I am really going for that trailer park theme. You really can’t go wrong with the classic white aluminum siding, it just brings that extra touch of class to any neighborhood. The simple metal grate steps draw your eyes right up to the door without cluttering the view with gaudy details like hand rails. I am quite proud to say that the bag of trash is my doing. I just felt that the landscaping was missing something and the white bag brought everything together. I am looking for an older car or truck that I can put up on blocks, if anyone knows where I can get one, please let me know.

Now to the interior! I couldn’t believe it either, but yes that is genuine fake wood paneling. Furnishings crafted of the finest fiberboard available and absolutely beautiful European made florescent lighting, what more could a guy want. The handmade cardboard rug really defines the space and completes the room.

It is true that you surroundings influence your behavior, since moving in I have had the greatest urge to tear the sleeves off all my shirts, grow a mullet and start watching NASCAR!

In all seriousness, the housing here is not that bad. I have a roof over my head, electricity, hot water and most importantly an awesome air conditioner.

Brewster--

Love the house, looks like one I used to live in. I do have a '77 Chevy 4X4 for sale if you are interested (rusty but trusty). Also, whenever you want to catch a race, let me know, I'll go with you. Aubrey & I are headed to the Phoenix NASCAR race in a couple of months, it might be hot down there. I am thinking of raising some broilers this spring, any advise? Anyway good luck, and keep up the good work. If you need any further redneck guidance, let me know. I can certainly help you out from redneck central here in Uehling.

Brewster,

Very nice place (for Baghdad I mean) I don't even have an air conditioner here in Kansas. I just sit in my pickup a lot with it running in the summer time. I noticed that you also don't have to tackle home improvement projects which are sucking up all of my free time. I am trying to get a room ready for our baby which is due in early May. What is it that you help farmers with. It seems like you are doing very worthwhile and interesting work. I am testing drought tolerant corn but we have nothing that can handle Iraq yet.... I will keep you posted.

I am really curious to see what your next pic will look like with the mullet and sleeves ripped off your shirt. Add a camo hat with an "N" on it and you Larry the Cable guy's body double.

I had better get back to my computer based training..

Later,

Reiman

Ryan,

I was wondering if the housing was "Native". I guess I wasn't expecting trailer houses in rural Iraq.

This is from Ryans acting Team Leader - We are very fortunate to have such a fine person and will put his many talents to good use here in Iraq.

Ryan, not sure you remember me... I was in Labor's in Bonsteel and they passed this on to me. Looks like you are having a great time over there. Conditions have greatly improved since I have seen first hand pictures of how the Americans are living over there. It was just huge tents that never really got cool enough to sleep. Glad you are 'comfortable' at least in you sleeping quarters.(If that's a term I can use to describe life over there.) I look forward to more updates. Don't have too much fun.
